More research ~ Michal Iwanowski

Another photographer that I reviewed and whose work has influenced me to work with light and colour in the dark is Michal Iwanowski.

Born in 1977 in Poland and living and working in Cardiff since 2001, Michal attained a MA in English (University of Wroclaw, Poland, 2002) and a  MFA in Documentary Photography (University of Wales, Newport 2008), he is now a Freelance photographer and Teacher of Photography at Ffotogallery, Cardiff.

Michal uses light to great affect in one of his projects call “Ne”.

The visual imagery of low and high lighted images can be quite affective, and although my expertise wont allow me to produce images of the above quality, low light is certainly of interest.

I love the darkness of this image. The mood that is created using this low light techniques is quite exceptional. Michal has created a very moody image by using light in a particular way.

He has highlighted the characters and the area between them, which then isolates them from the background, drawing you into the image.

I think this is a wonderful image

More of Michal images for he "Ne" project can be found here.
